From Ecuador, despite the name.
The "Panama" hat is, famously, not Panamanian. It's woven from the fibers of the toquilla palm in coastal Ecuador, by weavers in Montecristi and Cuenca who learned the craft from their grandparents. The name stuck because the hats were shipped through the Panama Canal in the 1800s.
The good ones take months. The very best take a year. We carry both, and a few in between.
